The HMUA is installing a new lined ductile iron water main several streets in Hackettstown and Mount Olive.  The new water main will replace aging, smaller diameter unlined cast iron piping.  The completion of this project will result in improved distribution system flows, delivered water quality, and improved system reliability for HMUA customers.

Affected areas in Hackettstown include the following:

  • From the bridge/culvert on Franklin St. to Park Ave., up Park Ave. to Cook St., down Cook St. to Ruland Ave. and up Ruland Ave. to the dead end.

  • East Plane St. from Rt. 46 to Maple Ave.

  • Maple Ave from East Plane St. to Willow Grove St.

  • Richard Drive from end to end.

Affected areas in Mount Olive include the following:

  • John St. from Parkway Dr. to just past Indian Ln.

  • Francis Terrace.

  • Indian Lane from John St. to Parkway.

The project is expected to be completed by September 2016.   Construction activity will typically be between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM daily.  No construction is expected to occur during the weekend.  During construction of the project, roadways may be closed temporarily; however, every effort will be made to accommodate local traffic and access to driveways.

If a water service interruption is scheduled, affected customers will be notified prior to interruption.  However, emergency situations may occur requiring immediate shutdown of the water main.  Please understand that we are making every effort to avoid any service interruption and will work diligently to reduce the duration of interruptions.

During the construction period, you may wish to store an adequate supply of water for drinking or other purposes in case of service interruption.  When your water service is turned back on, you may notice the water to be discolored.  With some flushing of your plumbing fixtures this discoloration will clear up.  If this condition does not clear up please contact our Business Office Day or Night and our personnel will respond.

Please bear with us while we work to improve your water quality and fire protection.  Please contact the HMUA Business Office at 852-3622 with any questions or if we can be of further service.
