WATER MAIN CONSTRUCTION NOTICE

May 16, 2018 at 2:49 pm

The HMUA has contracted with Pillari Brothers Construction Corp. to install new lined ductile iron water main in several streets in Hackettstown.  The new water main will replace aging, smaller diameter unlined cast iron piping.  The completion of this project will result in improved distribution system flows, delivered water quality, and improved system reliability for HMUA customers.

The project is scheduled to begin the week of May 21st and be completed by October 31st.  Following are the areas to be impacted, listed by proposed construction sequence:

  1. Richard Drive (Area 2)
  2. Cindy Terrace and Hurley Drive from Cindy Ter. To Miller St. (Area 1)
  3. Pine Street and Service Lines on Willow Grove St. (Area 3)
  4. Maple Avenue from Plane St. to Moore St. (Area 6)
  5. Franklin Street west of bridge to High St. (Area 4)
  6. Franklin Street east of bridge to Willow Grove St. (Area 5)

During construction of the project, roadways may be closed temporarily; however, construction will accommodate local traffic and access to driveways as much as possible.  Those customers directly impacted by the construction will be provided a notice by Pillari Brothers in advance of the construction.

If a water service interruption is scheduled, affected customers will be notified by HMUA prior to interruption.  However, emergency situations may occur requiring immediate shutdown of the water main.  Please understand that we are making every effort to avoid any service interruption and will work diligently to reduce the duration of interruptions.

During the construction period, you may wish to store an adequate supply of water for drinking or other purposes in case of service interruption.  When your water service is turned back on, you may notice the water to be discolored.  With some flushing of your plumbing fixtures this discoloration will clear up.  If this condition does not clear up please contact our Business Office Day or Night and our personnel will respond.

Please bear with us while we work to improve your water quality and fire protection.  Please contact the HMUA Business Office at 852-3622 with any questions or if we can be of further service.
