HYDRANT FLUSHING - WHAT TO EXPECT

2024 HYDRANT FLUSHING SCHEDULE

Flushing is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. on the following evenings:  May 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 12th, 13th , 14th, 15th.  Nightly flushing is normally completed by 6 a.m. the following morning.  Flushing will be completed during the day on May 16th and 17th.    Read More...


LEAD SERVICE LINE REPLACEMENT PROJECT COMPLETED

HMUA's Lead Service Line Replacement Project is completed as of April 2024.  The final project cost of $588,684 is being financed by the New Jersey Water Bank and will receive 77.18% in principal forgiveness at long term financing.

ASSISTANCE PAYING WATER/SEWER BILLS (LIHWAP)

The State Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) can help you pay arrears for your water and sewer bills. The program may also be able to help address tax liens due to water and sewer arrears. To get more information and apply, go to waterassistance.nj.gov or call NJ211.

LEAD SERVICE LINE REPLACEMENT PROGRAM - DELAY

The HMUA lead service line program is underway and property owners have been notified if their line is proposed to be replaced.  The contract has been awarded to Waters & Bugbee.  The project was scheduled to start in the Fall of 2022; however, due to supply chain issues, it is anticipated to begin next year after the holidays.  Thank you for your patience as we work to improve the water system.  Please contact our office with any questions.

In accordance with groundbreaking state legislation that is designed to reduce lead in drinking water and improve public health, public community water utilities in New Jersey have taken the first steps to identify and replace the state’s lead-containing service lines. Certified letters have been sent to all HMUA customers who have a known lead or galvanized service line informing them of the dangers of lead in drinking water and listing actions they can take to reduce their exposure.
